Things Bush Has Done in the Last Few Months That Bug Me.
He said attorney General Gonzales "went up and gave a very candid assessment, and answered every question he could possibly answer, honestly answer, in a way that increased my confidence in his ability to do the job." after Gonzales embarrassed himself and the justice department in front of republican senators who couldn't get a peep out of him when he testified before congress.
He is exercising "executive privilege" and refusing to comply to congresses' subpoena for the legal justification used for his warrant less wiretapping after refusing to comply with multiple other requests for the information.
He vetoed Congresses' war funding bill that had timetables for pullout of Iraq, conflicting with the desire of the majority of Americans and their elected legislators.
When the senate wanted to question former White House counsel Harriet Miers about the firings of the federal prosecutors, Bush offered to make Miers available for a private interview, which would neither be recorded, transcribed nor conducted under oath. What kind of garbage is that?
These things are lame.
I know. It’s not that long of a list, but I feel kind of frustrated about it.

sweet presidential seal
Being the President is a tough job, isn't it? Makes you wonder why anyone would want the job.
I think you should blog about "Things Al Sharpton Has Done in the Last Few Months That Bug Me." Now there's a man with a lot to say about very little. In fact, maybe I'll create my own blog just so I can post about that. Hmm...
Whew! I thought all the while that was Mamie's post and wondered at her courage after her last brush with politics around here. Cool you didn't get censored.
P.S. Yeah. He bugs.
Is that all you've got? How about keeping us from being blasted into oblivion? How about avoiding another 9-11? How about being faithful to his wife and living an exemplary personal life? We didn't get that with our last president.
I'd hate to think of all the things weighing this man down and try to imagine how many things I would do in his place that would 'bug' people who didn't focus on all the things he succeeded at, all the principles he tried to stand for whether unpopular or not. Sorry. Every time I see that presidential seal I feel grateful for George W. Bush. I think he is a man of principle. Sorry you're so bugged. It could be a lot worse!
That's a true Bushie who gave that second anonymous comment. Keep that identity secret! Secrecy is hallmark of this administration.
But wait, Bush kept us from being blasted into oblivion? Is that hyperbole by any chance?
And he avoided another 9-11? When did he do that?
Exemplary personal life? Are you talking just about since he found God? And is he faithful to his wife? Not like we know, but that wouldn't atone for the disingenuous administration's approach--which approach even a supporter like John recognizes.
Every time I see that presidential seal under this administration? I'm embarrassed, not grateful, for GWB. The US has lost its moral high ground during the last seven years.
You are right. He has kept us from plunging into apocalypse, which his administration constantly reminds us of to keep us afraid and loyal.
It could be worse, but at the same time it could also be so much better. And it wouldn’t take anybody special get us to a better situation. A good listener who could implement the collective voice of the nation and legislator could have put us in a better place.
It’s not that Bush is trying and failing...it is that he is secretly, thoughtfully, and methodically trying and succeeding to do things his way with "his" government, over a growing chorus of dissent from both parties and reasonable people worldwide. Perhaps he is a man of principal, but war, secrecy, pride, and pushiness are principals that bug me.
You are right-on John, in every comment and suspicion, as far as many of the Jamison clan are concerned. In fact, in my adult life I have never before felt the level fear for what one president can do to destroy all that seal and this country stand for as I do with this guy. Now he has commuted the sentence of Scooter Libby, in hopes of going out of office with the absolute lowest rating ever for a "commander & chief". What will he do next?

I'm a Bush supporter and I'm won't remain anonymous.
While I think that it's completely appropriate to voice your opinion, even healthy, I don't think it fair to blame Bush for most of the things people accuse him of. Considering the 2000 and 2004 alternative, America asked him to be our President, and I truly believe he's doing the best job he knows how.
Even through our differences, I support him because I believe that freedom requires sacrifice, because I consider gay marriage and the disintegration of the family to be among the most disgusting of movements - and these things matter more to me than his faults.
So until it's PROVEN through our own justice system that he's intentionally misled the people or otherwise committed some horrible crime, he's got my support.
