John came to me last night while I was brushing my teeth. He said, "You know, we are really perfect for each other. We're very compatible." I gave a frothy smile, and through a mouthful of toothpaste asked. "Oh yeah? Why's that?" "Well, we help each other in our weaknesses. You know, like you help me in my weakness of being scatter-brained, and I help you in your weakness of being liberal."

I feel sick.
Its all in good fun.
But wait, I think Jesus was a liberal. Long hair, welfare for the poor, questioned the authority of the day, wouldn't conform to society's norms... hmmm.
This is not good fun.
PEOPLE! You are having a political innuendo debate on a family blog? Puleeeze! Next thing, we'll be dragging Hitler in somewhere. That usually happens after someone justifies their views by comparing them to Jesus. Let's hear about your lives; nix the sloganeering ["Liberals Wage Peace?"]
I used my awesome powers bestowed only on the conservative and censored this divisive image. Once again, Mamie and I together produce humor but quell discord.
Like Mary Matlin and James Carville.
Mamie and John, you guys are truly a great couple. I like that part the best.
P.S. I'm sorry for using Jesus' name in levity and creating discord. That was wrong. It was meant to be fun. Woops.
Doesn't anyone have anything to say about the story? That was the actual point you know. (a perfectly good punchline ruined) I just googled for an image. Perhaps a little too strong for those who clearly lack love in their hearts... Nevertheless, dear ill Republican and distressed conservative, also 3rd party advisor- I still love you with a love only a liberal can afford, and respect your difference of opinions, however wrong they may ultimately be.
(this is where you insert your compassionate conservative sigh of reconciliation, and we all peacefully move on with our lives.)
Uhh, is this a friendly blog? Are you friendly peeps? I need to know, because you're comin' to my house pretty soon and I need to know which bedroom to put you in!
I'm so sorry to have missed your shower last night, Mamiekins, and hope you got lots of treasures for little Lucy. We just can't wait to see her little face this spring!
oh how much the use of voice inflection could do to abate these misunderstandings. It's much harder to take things in jest when you can't hear how it was origianlly meant to be said. everyone is friendly here, and no one is trying to make any political statements.
with that, we will take the VIP guest room on princeton, please. ;)
We have a VERY nice room for you in the Left Wing!
So in other news, I just love bunnies. So cute, so little, so non-controversial. But not as much as I love you two! Maime, keep the pregnancy photos coming - I promise they are fun to look at after the baby gets here :)
(And yes, I thought the story was very charming!)
I'm just happy to know that Johnny is still conservative. I was beginning to think that we might not be able to be friends anymore.
